Data available to the Ghana Football Association indicate that the members (Clubs) employ in excess of seventy thousand (70,000) players from the top flight league to the juvenile leagues.
The GFA president, Kurt E.S Okraku took to his Facebook page to announce the figures.
According to him, Ghana premier league clubs have a combine number of 1,019 registered players with the 48 Division one League clubs having 2,353 registered players. The 16 Women Premier league Clubs have 600 registered players.
The Divisions 2 and 3 organised at the regional level have 43,700 registered players while the juvenile clubs having 23,000 registered players.
In all, there are 70,672 registered in the GFA system.
The post has since generated a heated argument between industry players, some of which think the figure is on the high while the others say it’s a true reflection of what’s captured in the GFA system.
