It Is Normal For Award Schemes To Seem Biased:- Mercury Quaye

Founder and CEO of Ghana DJ Awards, Mercury Quaye

Mercury Quaye, who happens to be the main brain behind the Ghana DJ awards event and also the Cruise control host of Hitz FM has stated that it is normal for award schemes to seem biased.

He made this statement in response to the question by Dennis Gameplay on E-Chat: Why the Ghana DJ awards seem biased in favor of a section of DJs. He went on to say “If you look at any awards program you would realize that a lot of the awards go to those in the urban areas due to rural-urban migration…..go to America, let’s use the BET for example, you’re going to realize there are more nominations from New York City and all the other bigger places….most of the talents tend to migrate from the rural areas to the urban areas and use a lot more energy and do more marketing to brand themselves.”

Mercury Quaye who is the originator and CEO of the Ghana DJ awards also encouraged all DJs to take part in the event’s exercises and  do more where they find themselves to get to be heard. He talked about the new addition made to the nomination list this year which is the Regional DJ category. This category will tend to honor winning DJs from all the Regions in Ghana.

The Ghana DJ awards is designed to recognize dedicated and hardworking  DJs who are shaping the Ghana music industry by promoting the  Ghanaian music and entertaining people across board.

The organizers of the awards have set March 24th, 2017 as the date to launch it’s 2017 edition under the theme “UNITED BY MUSIC” and is set to hold at at the MJ grand in Accra.
