WAFU Tournament: Black Stars To Play Gambia In Opening Match

Ghana Black Stars B have been drawn against The Gambia in the West African Football Union competition to be staged in Ghana from 9th September.

Group A is made up of Ghana, Gambia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Mali, Mauritania, Guinea and Guinea Bissau.

Senegal, Liberia, Burkina Faso, Niger, Cote D’Ivoire, Togo Benin and Cape Verde make up group B.

The first phase of the tournament will be knockout, after which qualified countries will be grouped in the second round of the competition.

In other group A games, Nigeria will battle it out with Sierra Leone, Mauritania will face Mali while Guinea Bissau take on Guinea.

Senegal and Liberia will open the Group B matches, Burkina will lock horns with Niger, Ivory Coast will face Togo in what appears to be a David and Goliath affair. Benin will square it off with Cape Verde in a game dubbed by many as a game of equals.

The WAFU tournament is made up of nations in West Africa
